Play #24 (Make-up #6) - Origin by Elizabeth Irwin
Here's another very short play, but with a completely different tone than the last. In this play, Michael comes home from work to find his wife clearly agitated. He tries to cheer her up until the news comes out: she is pregnant. And why does this news produce so much bile between them? It seems that the pregnancy is the result of her recent rape by a colleague that she chose not to report. She wants to keep the baby, which sets off a pretty ugly argument that touches on trust, race, rape, dreams...it's very short, but it definitely packs a wallop.
